This Privacy Policy explains how ScanCopilot with package name com.codemanacademy.scancopilot handles information when you use the ScanCopilot Android application. ScanCopilot is provided by Codeman Academy.

ScanCopilot is a document scanner, PDF, OCR, QR, signature, watermark, and document management app. Most document processing happens on your device. The app uses device permissions and trusted third-party services only to provide app features, ads, analytics, crash reporting, purchases, and updates.

Information You Provide or Create

ScanCopilot lets you create, import, scan, edit, organize, save, and share documents, images, PDFs, signatures, QR codes, notes, watermarks, and related file names or tags. This content is generally stored on your device or in locations you choose, such as device storage, cache, gallery, or shared file destinations.

We do not require you to create an account to use the core app features. We do not ask for your name, address, password, contact list, precise location, or government ID for account registration.

Permissions Used by the App

ScanCopilot may request the following Android permissions, depending on your device version and the features you use:

• Camera: used to scan documents, capture images, read QR codes, and perform camera-based OCR features.
• Photos, media, and storage: used to import images/files, save scanned documents, export PDFs/images, and share files.
• Internet and network state: used for ads, Firebase services, in-app purchases, app updates, and network availability checks.
• Notifications: used only when the app needs to show supported Android notifications.
• Vibration: used for small feedback interactions, such as scan or action feedback.
• Biometric or fingerprint: used for local app lock or verification features when enabled by you. Biometric data is handled by Android system services and is not collected by us.

How We Use Information

Information handled by ScanCopilot is used to:

• scan, crop, enhance, organize, and export documents;
• create and edit PDFs, images, signatures, watermarks, notes, and QR codes;
• save files locally and share files when you choose to do so;
• display ads and manage ad-related preferences;
• process in-app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play Billing;
• measure app performance, diagnose crashes, improve stability, and configure app behavior;
• provide app update checks and basic app functionality.

Local Document Processing and Storage

Documents, images, generated PDFs, signatures, notes, folders, tags, and edits are primarily processed and stored locally on your device. If you share, export, email, upload, back up, or open files with another app, that destination app or service may handle the files under its own privacy policy.

ScanCopilot may use temporary files and cache files to complete document processing tasks. You can remove generated files using app features, device storage controls, or by uninstalling the app.

Third-Party Services

ScanCopilot includes third-party SDKs and services that may collect information according to their own privacy policies, including device identifiers, app activity, crash information, diagnostics, approximate location inferred from network data, ad interactions, purchase status, and other technical information.

The app may use the following services:

• Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads: used to show banner, native, interstitial, and app open ads.
• Meta Audience Network: used for advertising and ad mediation.
• Firebase Analytics: used to understand general app usage and improve the app.
• Firebase Crashlytics: used to collect crash reports and diagnostics for stability improvements.
• Firebase Remote Config: used to configure app behavior remotely.
• Google Play Billing: used to process in-app purchases and subscriptions.
• Google Play In-App Updates: used to check and deliver app updates.
• Google ML Kit / Google Play Services Vision: used for document scanning, OCR, and barcode or QR features.

Advertising

ScanCopilot may display ads through Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and mediation partners. These providers may use advertising identifiers and related signals to deliver, measure, limit, and improve ads. Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and provider settings, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

You can manage ad personalization through your Android device settings and Google account ad settings where available.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. ScanCopilot receives purchase status information needed to unlock premium features, but we do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal files or documents. Information may be shared in the following limited situations:

• with third-party SDK providers listed in this policy to operate ads, analytics, crash reporting, purchases, updates, and app services;
• with apps or services you choose when exporting, sharing, emailing, opening, or backing up files;
• when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security;
• as part of a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy or equivalent protections.

Data Retention

Files and content you create in ScanCopilot remain on your device until you delete them, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Temporary and cache files may remain for a limited time to support app functionality. Third-party services may retain analytics, crash, advertising, purchase, and diagnostic information according to their own retention policies.

Your Choices and Controls

You can control your information in several ways:

• deny or revoke app permissions from Android system settings;
• delete documents, folders, tags, generated files, cache, or app data from your device;
• manage ad personalization and advertising ID settings through Android or Google settings;
• manage purchases and subscriptions through Google Play;
• uninstall the app to remove app data stored in the app sandbox, subject to Android backup and external storage behavior.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the app. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting exported files, shared files, device access, and any passwords you set on PDFs or app lock features.

Children's Privacy

ScanCopilot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

International Users

Third-party providers may process information on servers located in different countries. By using ScanCopilot, you understand that technical, analytics, advertising, crash, purchase, and diagnostic information may be processed according to the privacy policies of the providers listed above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where required, provide notice through the app or the Google Play listing.
